Man Killed, 10 Displaced in Concord Fire

One Man was killed and 10 others were displaced when an early Morning Fire ablazed an Apartment Building. Concord Firefighters were dispatched at 3:24 AM to 94 - 96 Rumford Street for reports of a Building Fire. Concord Fire Chief Dan Andrus Told the Media "On our arrival, which was at 3:29 ( AM ) , fire was blowing out of the windows on the first floor and extending to the second floor. " Firefighters tried to enter the building and rescue the man, but the fire was too strong. " Officials said there were eight people home when the fire broke out.

New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Bill Degnan told the media "The fire occurred in a lower-floor unit, where there is one victim.

The fire brought every on-duty Concord firefighter to the scene and struck a second alarm. Fire Chief Dan Andrus also told the media that " firefighters were able to knock down the fire in about 10 minutes and kept it from spreading."The fire on the interior was contained to that one apartment, although there is heavysmoke damage throughout the entire structure " .

The Victim, later identified as Kevin Curdie, 60 died of smoke inhalation.

The investigation into the blaze is being conducted by members of the state Fire Marshal’s Office and Concord fire and police departments, though officials said they believe it was accidental
